What Is Redwood Deck Restoration?
Redwood deck restoration means returning your decks beautiful color and texture back to new condition. Contrary to popular belief, redwood is considered a hardwood and it is still the most popular wood used for decking. It is essential to know and understand the characteristics of redwood when performing restoration and finishing. Our redwood deck refinishing techniques involve time tested and proven methods restoring and maintaining this beautiful wood.
What is Teak Master’s Process for Redwood Deck Restoration?
Our redwood deck restoration process involves a thorough evaluation of your deck. If your redwood deck has weathered gray in color, it needs to be cleaned to remove oxidation and surface dirt. Deteriorating finishes need to be removed with use of chemical stripper. If your redwood deck has not been thoroughly prepped, the finish will not adhere correctly. Sanding is the next step in our redwood deck refinishing process. Intensive drum sanding will take off a small layer of wood resulting in a new appearance and smooth texture. The wood will then be bleached to promote color and prevent mold. By now your redwood deck will have its original pink color and look like the day it was built. Semi-transparent sealers specifically formulated for redwood decking will be applied to the wood. These sealers penetrate deep into the wood’s surface with use of natural solvents such as linseed oil and tung oil.
