Testimonials
I have had this deck for about 12 years now. One thing that is unique about it is that it is an Ipe deck which is not always the easiest wood to work with. We found Tim and his staff to be incredibly professional, very well versed, and very knowledgeable about all aspects of both my Ipe wood deck and Redwood deck. We have been using them for several years now and I can tell you, we would never use anyone else.
I found Teak Master on Yelp along with other companies while searching refinishing services to restore my redwood deck. I trust and value reviews on Yelp having been a member for years and writing several reviews myself. After doing my usual research, I noticed that another company’s reviews did not seem genuine and all three of their reviews were somehow written on the same day. The company was actually flagged by Yelp for suspicious content. I called Teak Master and Tim, the owner, came out to give me an estimate the same day. He walked me through the process and made me feel comfortable that I called the right service. Their crew made my family feel comfortable with the weeklong project and the deck looks absolutely incredible. Glad we know how genuine reviews on Yelp work and did our homework. Hiring Teak Master for deck restoration is a must!
When you choose to go the route of teak for your outdoor furniture, you make a commitment. You also make a substantial investment. As an exotic hardwood, teak provides the durability and ruggedness to stand up to all weather conditions while also providing a natural beauty that blends well with any landscape.
We purchased our furniture from a company called Giati, out of Santa Barbara, California. They’re known for their exceptional designs and high quality. We have over thirty pieces consisting of dining chairs, tables, loungers, and club chairs. When we purchased our furniture ten years ago, our yard looked like a resort. But time and the elements can also play havoc with your investment – turning your beautiful honey-toned teak furniture to a dirty grey.
Restoring even a simple chair can be a time consuming and exhaustive task – believe me, I’ve tried to do it myself. First you have to deep clean the wood using a two-part cleaning process. Then, when its fully dry, you have to sand the piece thoroughly. Then you apply the stain/sealer and wipe the piece down. Sometimes a second coat of sealer is needed. So restoring that single chair can take two to three full days of pretty mundane work. And when you multiply that one piece by multiple pieces, you start to realize that keeping your furniture looking good can eat up a lot of your time.
This is why Teak Master is such a blessing. With incredibly reasonable pricing, they pick up your furniture, take it to their shop, and in only a matter of a week or two, they deliver your furniture back to you looking like it just left the manufacturer’s showroom. Tim and the rest of the team are teak experts, and they understand the nuances of cleaning, prepping, and sealing the wood. They’re also thorough and quality focused, going to extra distance to perform small repairs or fix defects. “Using Teak Master has given us back our “resort look” for our outdoor furniture. And it’s taught me a lesson that while there are some things in life that a “do-it-yourselfer” can and should do, there are other things that you want to leave to the pros, and restoring teak is certainly one of those. “To keep our furniture looking its best, we’re now on a Maintenance Program with Teak Master. They come out to the house every quarter or so and freshen those pieces that need a tune up. Now the teak looks brand new year round.
I’d highly recommend Teak Master to anyone with even a single piece of furniture that wants to keep their teak looking its best.
I was told by the man that came to do the estimate that he would be performing the work alongside his crew which was not true. He never showed up. This was the first sign I should have called off the project. I let the men start and later asked why they were not cleaning the pergola and other structures above the second level deck. The man told me that they did not have the equipment to get to these areas and could not go back to get them since they are not located anywhere near Los Angeles. After they left I even noticed splintering caused by over power washing.
Needless to say the project didn’t turn out well and I was not satisfied. I decided to call Tim at Teak Master a few weeks later to come back out and take a look at the wood structures for a second time. He did so immediately and submitted a new proposal delightfully. We set a date and Tim and his crew did exactly what he said they would; make our wood look great again. Simple! So, the saying goes, you get what you pay for. I highly recommend Tim and his crew to everyone reading this.
Our neighbors use Teak Master to maintain their teak furniture and we see their trucks every so often throughout the neighborhood. We decided to reach out to see what could be done to make our Ipe decks look the way they were intended to. We contacted by email and Mike Smith called us back and requested a couple photos be sent over. Mike explained the process and gave a price over the phone. He also let us know he was going to be in the neighborhood later in the week so we could meet in person. Mikes knowledge about Ipe decks, their ongoing care, and on-site visit, made us comfortable in knowing that after several years we had finally found the right company. We couldn’t be more pleased with the entire experience and process and look forward to maintain our Ipe decks with Teak Master on a
bi-annual basis.
telling you, they have never looked this great since they were
installed. The color is vibrant and we can now see the beautiful grain again. Teak Master’s fine craftsmanship and
professionalism is impeccable, bravo!
A couple weeks later the Teak Master team showed up right on time, in uniform and a company labeled vehicle. This stands out to me because my grandfather owned his own business for 35 years and these details do make a difference. I chose from a couple sample colors that were applied to the deck by the supervisor. I left for work and when I returned home I was absolutely amazed at the transformation. I would highly recommend Teak Master to anyone who has a deck in need of restoring. They are clearly the “top dog” in the business for good reason!
